Funding Priorities

Thank you for your interest in the Nevada Rock Art Foundation. This is what you can make happen with a grant of $1,000 to $10,000. As of August 2015, our current funding priorities are listed below. Gifts towards these 3 priorities are accepted and much appreciated at any time during the year.

  1. General Operating ($1,000-$10,000): The Nevada Rock Art Foundation has been working for the past 12 years to protect and preserve Nevada’s rock art heritage through documentation, research, and public education. All mission-related activities are performed by trained and vetted volunteers under the supervision of NRAF’s professional archaeological staff, a model that has allowed the Foundation to do the type of work that would prove financially prohibitive if performed solely by paid archaeologists, yet has ensured the professional quality of the data gathered and disseminated. Your donation of as little as $1,000 supports the salaries of professional staff, necessary materials, and travel reimbursements for volunteers, and ensures that our important work can continue and that Nevada’s rock art will remain for future generations to enjoy.
  2. Field Equipment ($1,000-$10,000): Nevada is a harsh landscape in which to do archaeological fieldwork, and the elements put lots of wear and tear on our personal vehicles, field equipment, and personal laptops. Contributions of as little as $1,000 will allow for the purchase of new field laptops, new camera lens, or upgrades to our GIS equipment. Larger donations would contribute toward the purchase of a field vehicle.
  3. Publications ($5,000): To date NRAF, primarily through the efforts of volunteers and a small paid staff, has documented over 20% of rock art sites in Nevada (many of which are inaccessible to the general public). We want to share the results of these documentation projects and our vast research findings with the public as digital publications available free of charge on our website, as well as making some publications available in hard copy, at a subsidized lower purchase price. With a cost of ~$5,000.00 to produce each digital publication and a small number of printed volumes, your donation will mean that an unlimited number of Nevadans and rock art enthusiasts will be able to experience rock art sites that they may never have the opportunity to visit in person.
